PSALM 25:1-9 IN YOU, I PUT MY TRUST

1. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. 2. O my God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me. 3. Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. 4. Make me know Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. 5. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day. 6. Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old. 7. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; According to Your lovingkindness remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O LORD. 8. Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. 9. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way.

JAMES 1:19-25 DO WHAT THE LORD SAYS

19. This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; 20. for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. 21. Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24. for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

PHILIPPIANS 2:1-13 IMITATING CHRIST'S HUMILITY

1. Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2. make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4. do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6. who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7. but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10. so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11. and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12. So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13. for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

EXODUS 17:1-7 WATER FROM THE ROCK

1. Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel journeyed by stages from the wilderness of Sin, according to the command of the LORD, and camped at Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink. 2. Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, ``Give us water that we may drink." And Moses said to them, ``Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?" 3. But the people thirsted there for water; and they grumbled against Moses and said, ``Why, now, have you brought us up from Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?" 4. So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, ``What shall I do to this people? A little more and they will stone me." 5. Then the LORD said to Moses, ``Pass before the people and take with you some of the elders of Israel; and take in your hand your staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. 6. ``Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7. He named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the LORD, saying, ``Is the LORD among us, or not?"

ACTS 3:18-26 REPENT THEN, AND TURN TO GOD

18. ``But the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19. ``Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; 20. and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, 21. whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. 22. ``Moses said, `THE LORD GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN; TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEED to everything He says to you. 23. `And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.' 24. ``And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days. 25. ``It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, `AND IN YOUR SEED ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED.' 26. ``For you first, God raised up His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways."

HOSEA 14:1-8 RETURN TO THE LORD

1. Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity. 2. Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to Him, ``Take away all iniquity And receive us graciously, That we may present the fruit of our lips. 3. ``Assyria will not save us, We will not ride on horses; Nor will we say again, `Our god,' To the work of our hands; For in You the orphan finds mercy." 4. I will heal their apostasy, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from them. 5. I will be like the dew to Israel; He will blossom like the lily, And he will take root like the cedars of Lebanon. 6. His shoots will sprout, And his beauty will be like the olive tree And his fragrance like the cedars of Lebanon. 7. Those who live in his shadow Will again raise grain, And they will blossom like the vine. His renown will be like the wine of Lebanon. 8. O Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like a luxuriant cypress; From Me comes your fruit.

MATTHEW 21:23-32 PARABLE OF THE TWO SONS

23. When He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, ``By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?" 24. Jesus said to them, ``I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. 25. ``The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?" And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, ``If we say, `From heaven,' He will say to us, `Then why did you not believe him?' 26. ``But if we say, `From men,' we fear the people; for they all regard John as a prophet." 27. And answering Jesus, they said, ``We do not know." He also said to them, ``Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. 28. ``But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, `Son, go work today in the vineyard.' 29. ``And he answered, `I will not'; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30. ``The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, `I will, sir'; but he did not go. 31. ``Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, ``The first." Jesus said to them, ``Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. 32. ``For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.

PHILIPPIANS 1:21-30 LIFE WORTHY OF THE GOSPEL

21. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. 23. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24. yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. 25. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, 26. so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again. 27. Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28. in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. 29. For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30. experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
